Hello! This is my first time on any sort of forum. I suppose I am very behind the times. My fiancee tells me they are a blast and very helpful. I will be 21 yrs old in June, I am a senior in college and intend to graduate in May of '06 and get married a couple of weeks after graduation. My fiancee and I have been together for four yrs. My favorite thing to do is read science fiction fantasy and I am a huge Robert Jordan fan, though he is not the limit of my literary interests. I am majoring in Classical Civilization and minoring in Religion. For those who do not know (as it is a rare field), Classical Civ is the study of Ancient Greece and Rome (primarily) with a smattering of Greek and Latin languages. I am a born and bred Southern Baptist with a lot of questions and doubts. I am solid in my foundational beliefs but since my junior year in high school (thanks to a wonderful teacher) I have begun to question why I believe what I believe. Rather than just accepting something because I have always been taught that way, I am trying to find support for my beliefs. This has led to a number of internal spiritual wrestling matches, but I prefer that over blindly walking off a cliff. I stumbled across this site through Google and immediately became interested. My number one pet peeve is a discussion that turns into a yelling match and a beat-em-over-the-head-with-my-opinions debacle. So the idea of forum that debates religion intelligently intrigued me.
Looking forward to learning all I can! -spoken4- ![]() |

Welcome spoken!
![]() I think it is great you are wanting to investigate your spirituality and philosophy. There is certainly a diversity of opinions around here. My advice is to use your reason as far as it can take you, but in the end your heart will have to complete the answer for you. Last edited by Nick Soapdish; 05-03-2005 at 11:53 PM. Reason: spelling |

Welcome, spoken4! Being open-minded enough to question and explore what you believe and why you believe it can really strengthen those beliefs, in my experience anyhow
![]() One thing I've noticed about this forum ~ though most folks don't agree on much of anything, bashing others because of what they believe is not tolerated at all.... so... welcome to the fray and enjoy ![]() |

Spoken 4, Namaste.
Welcome to the forum; This is the first forum I joined as well. After that I joined a couple of others - related to hobbies of mine; they weren't a patch on this one though. Hope you like it here, ![]()
