I believe that it's good to be open, but to also look for evidence (smart-open). I am open to ideas, but I don't smoke or take drugs like some people do because it makes them feel good.

1. They have faith that God was made up. Why not just have faith that he was/is real? Really it does not hurt one way or the other if he was not real, but if he was real then to deny him brings all sorts of problems in life and death. So why leave it to chance. Just like no one can prove he was real. No one can prove he was not.

Why don't you watch few episodes and then decide what they do. From what I've seen, atheists seek for proof of god, before they start to believe. Why not have faith in unicorns since you can see them in books, TV and art?
You are hurting yourself by basing your life on written fiction. Have you actually tried going to church and having a real conversation with God?
The burden of proof is on the believer. If I tell you that the earth was built by immortal magic fairies 20 billion years ago, and they talk to me every Friday, telling stories on how they fought the evil orcs.... Can you please prove that immortal magic fairies don't exist?

2. People need common ground. In my life as being an open person I had the thought that he was just made up to keep us inline and doing well. Slap my self in the head. "DOING WELL". I want to do well in life. So if he is not real and when I die the lights just go out and nothing else. I can still feel at the moment light dims that I had a ball when I was here. When I grew up I learned from my mistakes and in order to stop myself from making the same mistakes I had help.

I believe that people need to have respect in each other and the environment around, and most of all, have a respect towards truth based on empirical evidence. I believe, so far, that he was made up to keep the majority in line of being poor and uneducated, while keeping the church, and equivalents, rich and powerful.

With no God who do we go to for help? We just go into the darkness with no guide alone and hopeless. I want the feeling of hopelessness to end. Above all; Like I said. "If he is not real it will not hurt a thing". Like I will ever know the truth if the lights just went out anyways.

Family, friends, relatives? Do you really want to spend your whole life believing in something that doesn't exist in reality?
I think that we need to keep looking for answers based on real-world evidence, and not based on our feelings, or wild emotional imagination. But that's just me

Good luck with your quest.
