We all know that Wicca isn't actually an old religion per se, but rather a religion founded around old beliefs. I was just watching Weird Travels and they visited Salem. They show a diorama in a museum in which a voice recording says "Who are witches? We are. We practice THE OLD RELIGION, or Wicca." Tell me, why does a city known for Magick and witchcraft, past and present, present themselves and their religion under false pretenses? Surely they cant be that naive to believe Wicca is more than a religion founded in the 50s. Or is it that the religion itself identifies as the "old religion." If the latter is the case, why? (PS forgive my lack of paragraphs, Im on my cell).

wicce/wicca were not words with positive connotations, nor did they refer to "wise ones" who practiced the kind of witchcraft Wicca is associated. The were practitioners of malicious magic, so I don't the quote is refering to anglo-saxon.
