Guilty as charged -- I was a 'scratchy badger' in my younger days, muttering dire imprecations about 'fluffy bunnies' and 'wanna-bes'.

Luckily, I grew out of that phase.

I consider 'fluffy bunnies'to be 'learners' -- and especially so in the case of teenagers, who are heavily influenced by pop-culture, their friends' opinions, and 'the next cool thing'.

It's a simple fact that 'learners' need information; 'Buffy' and 'Charmed' provide it, in spades, and although it's (obviously) far from an accurate source, it's also all that the vast majority of so-called 'fluffy bunnies' can find -- and not for want of trying, either.

Couple that difficulty with the relatively 'secluded' nature of Wicca as a whole, where (to be blunt) you usually need to 'know someone' in order to locate any segment of our faith community, and is it any *wonder* that the 'fluffy bunny' emerges?

As I said eariler, I'm guilty of 'scratchy badger'-ism, on a large scale, and what we 'scratchy badgers' sometimes fail to understand is that is that by constantly sneering and looking down our noses at the 'fluffy bunnies', we're only perpetuating the stereotype.
