![]() Now, not all Wiccans are 'nice' people -- but neither are all Christians, or members of other faiths. We generally strive to be the best people we can -- we're no angels, and some of us have done (and still do) things we're not exactly proud of, but we're (usually) willing to accept that we screwed up and try again. We're very forgiving that way. XD |

Okay, good question.
I am wiccan. I do not, well I VERY rarely do any magic. There are a few components to consider here. First of all wicca is not divided into sects based on spell doer on non spell doing. You do not have to do spells to be wiccan and doing spells does not make you wiccan. You have to be careful with spells. The first and primary rule of wicca is do what thou wilt as long as it harm none. Karma is a tempermental thing. A true wiccan will not do any harmful spells. Furthermore, to do a spell on someone else, you must have their permission- even if it is a good spell. Second of all, yes, spells can be compared to prayer. It is connecting yourself to divinity. The difference is that in a religion like christianity, when you pray, you are trusting your problems to god, he does his work separate from you. In Wicca, a spell is a way in which you work WITH your diety. Like Karma, spells work via energy. You are centering your energy and calling upon deity's energy to work toward whatever your goal is. |
