So, I know there's a lot of controversy and disagreement over her books in the Pagan community, so I was just wondering what all of the Pagans here thought of her. Is she to be avoided at all cost? Is she ok for people who need a review, but not good for people new to the path? Is she a fantastic author with great advice?

I don't think she's to be completely avoided, just avoided from people who don't already know the basics. Granted, I haven't read her stuff yet, I do want to, if just to know what the controversy is all about. But from what I've heard, students who learn from her books and then go to a coven setting almost have to relearn everything. So just for that, I would not recommend her to a beginner.

Silver Ravenwolf no longer writes/publishes under that name - even she doesn't want to be associated with some of her work, that's the first hint to avoid her
![]() however, she did publish one good reference book, it contains astrology charts, associations and meanings, and it also pulls together a lot of stuff from other authors - this book is ofcourse "Solitary Witch, the ultimate book of shadows" in that book, she uses a lot of Scott Cunningham, Ron Hutton (who checked over this book for historical accuracy, i'm not sure what imput he had on her other books...) and others that i can't think of right now. that specific book is one i like, but the rest of her work.... like i said, even she doesn't want to be associated with it ![]()

Where did you hear she wasn't using that name anymore? She just published a new book in September, and nothing is different.

Oh, there's nothing better!
I spent a lot of time, when I first starting surfing forums, just plowing fluffs down. They're so much fun to laugh at. It's mean, but it's true and they ALL think they know everything. My favorite thing in the world about Wiccan fluffs: I'm not, nor have I ever been Wiccan, and I STILL know more than they do. Gods, how can one not enjoy that?

Oh, I tend to have more fun with the "I'm Wiccan and I practice Black Magick..Do you know any curses?" or the "I'm a natural born witch. I have ancestors who were burned at the stake in Salem. NEVER AGAIN THE BURNING TIMES!" sorts. Those have always been my favorites.
