It is difficult to even difine success in a spell. From going from getting no job interviews, to suddenly getting several of them at once, and even two job offers on the same day, noticing opportunities I have not noticed before, down to very frightening experiences when certain spirits are not shown proper respect.

Are you saying you can do the coin thing and leviitate?

Yes, and my point is, they are illusions, and the thought of that being magick comes from a fantasy world. I will tell you I am 'reading the papers memories' as I brush the ashes onto my arm to write down whatever the volunteer wrote down on the paper, but thier is a simple two step solution to this illusion. (Don't even bother to ask me for it, because I will not reveal them.) To date, the only way I know to make a fire ball in my hand is use a type of paper that has two layers, that when separated, causes a fireball to appear.

If you decide to pursue a magick path as your path in life, then until you have had much experience, have worked alot with spirits, and know a great deal of protection sigils and spells, at all costs AVOID anything that deals with channeling, summoning, eregore creation, and anything the author of a book claims is powerful. Thier are ways to hasten your growth, but it will be stunted, greatly flawed, a waste of your time, and can have disaterous results.

I just read this posts, and just as a FYI, thier are sects of Christianity that partake in magick rituals. Thier are a few Christian Wiccans on this forum that can explain more about this than I can.

I will second that, along with any book by Cunningham. Edian McCoy's The Craft is also a good beginers book. Buckland is also another good author. I highly recomend you start with Wiccan: Beliefs and Practices by Gary Cantrell. It has a very general overview of Wicca, a few things here and thier about herbs, rituals, Sabbats, and some other stuff, and even how Wicca and Paganism has been viewed by society.
A Witches' Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar is another good book for beginers and novices. D.J. Conway, one of my favorites, writes many books that deal with Dragons. If you chose a Shamanistic path, Ted Andrews is very good. Animal Speak is a good book for starting a Shamanic path with. Since you are knew, do not bother with books wrote by Konstantinos, unless you are absolutly sure you are to take a Nocturnal path, and ready to deal with extremely powerful forces. (His Vampires: Occult Truth book is simply a book about vampires, so that is ok if you are interested.) His book Summoning Spirits does not deal with Nocturnalism, but summoning and channeling can be dangerous if you do not know enough about what's going on.

And even years later, don't shy away from beginers books. You can always learn things from them, even if you already know most of what the book teaches.
http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_index/xshops.html is a good place to start. It lists Pagan stores by nation/state. One thing to keep in mind, any good store will have employees and owners that will gladly help you out and answer questions. And generally small, hole-in-the-wall type Pagan stores are better, to protect your privacy and to have fewer unwanted guests.

The Spirits is a general term. It can refer to the dead, guardian spirits, basically beings that live that have no physical body.

I have done channeling and summoning, and both, especially channeling, require alot of focus, control, and being able to use proper protective measures to avoid any potential harm, such as possession (allthough full possession is highly debated if it actually happens or not).
Creating an eregore is an advanced technique, in which the caster focuses an enormous amount of energy pulled from either light or dark ethers, and literally gives life to a spirit servant, which must be controlled, guided, and ultimatly destroyed (the most an eregore should be allowed to live is two moon cycles), returning it to the energy to its origins. I have succesfully done this before, but it is extremely difficult.

Any religion, whether it be Christian, Wiccan, Muslim, Jewish, Druid, Hindu, or whatever, is more than a simple choice. It reflects upon what you believe, and is a life-style choice, and shouldn't be taken lightly. You don't have hold your faith in conservative views, or become a mindless zombie living only by what your religion says, but just taking the label can lead to unwanted persecution, and not fully wanting to be of a certain faith will cause misery while you follow it.

Myself, I am a Nocturnal Druid, and the only traits I exhibit are I wear monochrome black nearly every day, and I wear a pentagram amulet. But unless someone asks me what I believe, they don't know. Alot of people I encounter and those don't know me well think I am athiest, due to the fact I rarly mention religion. The only times I mention religion are when someone wants to debate about an issue and brings religion into it, or if someone directly asks me what I believe.

me and you have practically the same belief, just go by a different title

Get your hands on information about the elemental parts of spellcraft, i.e colour associations, etc.

Make up your own rituals.

Rinse, Repeat.

Too much of the time following the ritual becomes more important the energy, this is bad.
