Default Any witches or pagans involved in coven and organized ritual

I was just curious. Are there any people who engage in high level rituals with groups or are apart of any covens? I have a genuine desire to learn more about the similarities of certain religions or belief systems with the rituals and beliefs in witchcraft, druids satanism(Aleister Crowley style maybe not quite as intense but on same path or understandin),wicca, or pagan I am not sure what is what. Forgive me for my ignorance.

I'm a little surprised that no one has replied to this thread yet . Although I'm not Wiccan , I will try to give your understanding a start MM .

There are many beliefs held under the banner of Pagan / Witchcraft / Wiccan . Although there may be some common elements , such a path in Spiritualism often tends to be very individualized . Even within a Coven , you may find variation in a belief or spell . There is what some call " High Magic " which does tend to be more rigid , but even that sometimes have variants from one group to another .

Crowley is a good excample of what I mean . He was a part of several groups during his life , and founded a few . He was key in founding several trains of thought on " Magik ". But always seemed to move on ... Of course , he took that which worked for him when he did move one . And that is how this type of Path differs from most religions . A more or less lack of doctrine .

Of course , there will be those who will disagree with me . I believe that the close you get to so called " High Magik ", the more they will disgree . Some people perfer rigid rituals , other perfer what " feels right ".

Perhaps that is why there hasn't been a response to your question yet ? Because they are a little too board ? Too many possible answers ?

Hmmm ? I haven't really help you at all , have I ? Sorry but I can't really define other people's beliefs without risking stepping on toes { and making a fool of myself ** . I tried ... but the deeper I got , the deeper I buried myself . So I deteled it . I hope that others will answer your questions better then I can .

Kreeden has a good point. I follow my own spiritual path and though there is definitely some Wiccan influences, I don't follow any coven. Hope you get your answers.

I used to be in a coven, but I personally found it harder to grow in one, mainly because the other members weren't as serious as I am. I went to complete solitary and have been flourishing.
Druids generally do both group and solitary rituals.

I am also a solitary and though I'm not apart of a coven, a couple of my friends and I are solitaries, together. We don't do rituals together, but we share information and learn together. Though recently, my fiance and I have been doing some seasonal rituals together.

When that happens, we talk about what we want the ritual to be about, what will be said, what will be offered, what will be used to create ambiance, who and how casts the circle (if there needs to be one) and so forth. Afterwards, we talk about how it went, things that didn't go so well we work to change to make it work better.

Terry Pratchett's witches are an ornery lot- so much so that the 'number of witches in a coven is exactly one'. Sometimes I think that's true. There are a great number of people here that I think I would very much want to share ritual with, but I don't know that many nearby me.

there's a pagan union on campus at uni, i'm gonna become a member and go partake in their first few rituals, and decide from there if i want to continue in their coven-like organisation or remain solitary - either way, i'll keep the membership to the union because it's always good to socialise with like-minded people

covens can be open to members from a variety of traditions and rotate the tradition/style of the ritual to include all members, other covens may be tradition specific - it depends entirely upon the coven as to whether or not i want to participate.

so, to answer the initial question, i don't know if i am apart of a coven

i guess the PU will just be a big coven that accepts all pagan-orientated belief and practise, because it is apart of the student's union it has to adhere to the inclusive nature of the student's union - i will be apart of that.

I also was part of a coven (Alexandrian) but I had the opposite problem almost. The other members took themselves, the traditions and the High Rituals too seriously in my opinion, to the exclusion of true honor to the Lady and Lord, with little emphasis on the Rede....

My own personal emphasis has tended towards the spiritual rather than the ceremonial and magickal. But if you have any questions regarding my years in the coven, I'll dredge my memory and answer best I can! Keep in mind though that this was 2 years in a coven, 18 years ago....man, I'm getting old.
