Wiccans-How do you respond (Wiccans Only) (Earth, tradition, beliefs, Harry Potter)

I know I'm not supposed to post here since it's for Wiccans, but Harry Potter is hardly more Wiccan than I am! Seriously, why do people go off on a book. Sleeping Beauty has magic in it, why aren't we burning Sleeping Beauty books? I am a Christian, I read Harry Potter, and I'm proud of it!

I have mixed feelings. I really don't care about the stereotyping itself but I do care when ignorant people come up and tell me what I believe and then refuse to listen. I also care because I expect this happens to other people as well and I don't think they should have to put up with that. Unfortunately, I do view this as an offshoot of stereotyping.

i think you're right - several times i have had people try to define my beliefs and practices for me, and then criticise them - it's funny, because they obviously know more about what i believe than i could ever possibly know

No, I don't think it's offensive at all. And, also, she was probably the type of Wiccan who believed that 100,000+ witches were burned at the stake and persecuted for practicing Paganism, and regularly proclaimed "never again the burning times".
