Mabon
Mabon is the second harvest celebration of the Wheel and is mainly dedicated to the Spirit of Vegetation. Vegetables and fruit are the crops held in high esteem at this time and we give thanks for their bountiful harvest. A Pagan day of thanksgiving; we give thanks for the year’s harvest and blessings from our Mother from whom springs all life. Referred to as the Corn Mother, we know her as many names including: Demeter, Cailleach, or Maighdean-Bhuana. The last sheath of corn from harvest symbolizes the spirit of the corn (also known as John Barleycorn). Celebration of this day is signified with a great harvest feast centering on the fruit and vegetation of the land’s harvest. One may make corn dollies, perform ritual in harvested field, and give thanks for the year’s abundances. Along with corn, the fruit which is honored is the apple. It can be included in your feast and even offered to deceased loved ones in their memory. To decorate for this Sabbat you may include any of the harvest foods (wheat, corn, apples, grapes, etc…). Candle colors for your altar may be either dark brown or red. Since this is the first day of Autumn you may want to use several Autumn colors around your home prior to the day and during the day to welcome the change of seasons. This day also marks the change of weather to cooler days, so lighting candles around your home to burn during the day is a way to symbolize the warmth your home will offer over the next season.

This is beautiful, Draka!
Would you mind if I added it to our "Pagan Calendar"- with credit to you, of course! My description doesn't go into such lovely detail as this!

Go right ahead Feathers. I don't mind at all. It is a short writing though. If you want stuff a bit more expansive at times just let me know.

Sure will, Draka! I'm still working on filling out the 'pagan' section- would it be okay if I added it to the "Wicca" section as well?
