I am curious about what brought you to the Wiccan religion. In my experience, most people are in a certain religion because they were born in a certain place or their parents taught it to them. Is this the case with anyone on this board? What attracted you to Wicca?
I had a roommate last year who was Wicca and I have been curious about it ever since I lived with him. He was a nice guy, but he disappeared before we ever got a chance to talk about his religion in depth.

My husband brought me to it. But really I was already Wiccan. I just didn't realize it. I always believed there was a goddess and god and I knew I could do things out of the ordinary.

I was raised by a Catholic mother and a Christian father and yet I knew by the time I was 14 or so that I did not believe the same as they. I had my own beliefs and at the time had no idea that they fit into any religion. It wasn't until years later that I was wandering through Barnes and Noble Booksellers and looking at books on Buddism out of curiousity that I spotted a book on Wicca. I had never really known or heard anything about it and when I read the introduction something in me just clicked. I bought that book and several after and found my path...it made perfect sense to me and was everything I already believed anyway. Just gave me a way to express my beliefs and understand them better and get even more information. I am constantly learning...as we all are.

Magic first attracted me to Wicca. Charmed kind of magic, sans the evil forces to fight.
When I first discovered Wicca, I wasn't yet certain of my own beliefs. I really liked the things I read, and like Draka said, they seemed to click. The more I learn about myself, the more I realize how well I fit into Wicca.

I came to wicca by searching and studing differnt bliefs and cultures. I was loosly raides catholic, but just couldnt get into it. Same with christanity, i liked some parts but just couldnt belive in it. I always sayed i believe in a higher power i cose to call god, cuz i knew nothing elese. Eventualy i came across paganism. Then meet some witches - didnt like them but i sortta like some of what hey said. So the reasearch began and here i am many years later and overall very happy !

I felt very lost in life, and I started reading a book on Wiccan, and was hooked. It just seemed so right and fitted into my life so well.
This was about 12 years ago, alot has changed in my life now, but I still feel a strong pull for what I learned. Last edited by Rebecca; 11-27-2005 at 02:31 PM.. |

I was raised in a loosely Christian family, we didn't attend church but I was always interested in religion. I wasn't satisfied with what I read in the Bible. It didn't fit with my understanding of the Higher Power. I flinched from the idea of original sin, hell and all the complication. I embarked on a little spiritual quest and eventually found that my own personal philosophy had a name - Pagansism. After sifting through that, I realised that witchcraft was for me. I love the natural world which has always felt more of a Mother than a Father. I liked the idea of making my own path. It was like a breath of fresh air. I've since met others who share my beliefs and learned a lot more. It all just fits.

I am still being taught the ways of Wicca, but what really attracted me to it was the fact that it involves so much understanding, love and a passionate interest into it.
I always knew there was a God and a Goddess, ever since I was a young child. It was as if I had been sent the understanding of my religion before my time of the following had begun. What drew me into the belt of the Wiccan ways was mostly the Magick involved behind it and the beautiful things that you can create with you love. I am only thirteen years of age and have already got quite a bit of knowledge. Even though you may not think I could even remotely begin to understand love and passion because all teenagers are little blighters, I can understand it. At school I can seem a little rough around the edges, for I go to an all-boys school so I don't want to seem at all a bit femenine in front of them. I am not gay, if that is what you may be thinking, and I have a girlfriend... but I can still get very in touch with the other side of me. I know that most of you are all adults seeing as one of you has a husband and I know many Wiccan adults but I also see and know lots of other Wiccans and they teach me new things as well. Thank you for reading this, if you have. I just wanted to express some things.

Well I am not really a Wiccan as I don't practice the religion, but it is one of great interest to me and I am considering dedicating my life to it's practices. Religions have always been a hobby of mine, and I was born Christian, but our family never really was religious. So, I began reading about religions and stuff and since I love all aspects of nature and stuff, I discovered Wicca (and all the Pagan faiths), and they seemed to interest me. I don't know if I can pick and stick with one religion, as I believe in differnt aspects of lots of religions.
What attracted me to Wicca a lot is that it deals a lot with nature, Wiccans generally seem really nice and caring (imo), and the fact that almost everything about this faith seems believable (to me).
