Because of our new Kemetic user, I thought some of you would want to learn a little more about Egyptian Gods and Goddesses. Many Wiccans chose an Egyptian goddess or god as their representative deity (or whatever you'd like to call it )

does anyone know if there are groups of people in egypt who still worship this way, or is everyone either muslim or coptic christian now?

There are certainly individuals who do, but I don't believe there's the same sort of organized religious groups.

As I said before, we do have a Kemetic user, so please ask around and check out the stuff about it in the Paganism forum I'm sure he knows more than I do!

Correction, you have another Kemetic member now: me. I follow a dual-affiliated path, meaning I adhere to two distinct religions at once... don't ask me how I survive it, I honestly don't know sometimes. My two loves happen to be Lycian Wicca and Kemetic Orthodoxy, so there you go. With the House of Netjer (the Kemetic temple I'm affiliated with) I am known as a Son of Yinepu-Wepwawet ("Anubis") and Beloved of Khepera and Bast.

You know I haven't even done more than glance at the one linked to in this thread... just been busy busy. Maybe we could... but talk about daunting tasks. My usual method is just to give a little advice, a few warnings, and point them to the divine door-step, so to speak. Really and truly, one of the first things I suggest is something that was suggested to me early on, and I've found it very very true. The Gods prefer their real names over the Greek manifestations that many people know for some of them (such as "Anubis" -- really Yinepu and Wepwawet, or Osiris -- really Wesir and Sokar). There are a few special cases, such as the Name Isis, which some of us with the House actually think has developed into a legitimate third form of Aset (also known as Serqet) though we do not incorporate the Isis-Aset aspect into our practices.

Ah really its not so bad... even Lord Set has His compassionate moments. He just has an interesting definition of compassion. "Awwe... that thing there is giving you trouble? Yes, yes I can see that... Truly, it really is just something beyond you, isn't it? You want my help? Really? Yes, child, I shall help..... *SMASH* .....all better now, yes? Lovely child."
