I'm posting this with Rex's permission and hope I'm putting it in the right place.
I have a *bunch* of books from when I practiced Wicca and they're looking for a good home. The books are free for the cost of shipping (via UPS). All of the books are in excellent condition...some I never even cracked open (it's a bookaholics main problem). I prefer to give them all away to one person because it's less work. The books are worth a few hundred dollars and include books by author Scott Cunningham, Ann Moura (Aoumiel), and a bunch of others on sabbats, history, etc. Sorry...no books by Silver Ravenwolf or other bubblegum wicca authors. If you're interested, please e-mail me privately at melody@dmci.net.

To my understanding personal attacks are not allowed on this site. Unless you have met Silver this is a blind derogitory statement. Not nice. And aside of that, i have met Silver and while her writing style is a little fluffy for clairity, SHE is not! It is sweet of you to pass on knowledge, instead of ebaying it! a |

This was not a personal or a derogatory attack. It was an opinion of an author and her work....which btw I do not retract. There are very few serious practitioner's of Wicca who take her books seriously. If you do, no harm no foul but they aren't found in the books I have to give away. The remark I made was no different from oh...say someone who states that Dr. Dobson is an idiot and his writings are proof of it. Again, it's not a personal attack but rather an opinion of a book author.

It may not be a personal or derogitory but as you may say that you do not take her seriously i would be extremely wary of generalizing all wiccans or even most wiccans or even and number of "serious wiccans" to your own low opinion of someone, who writes in a way you may have misunderstood. For i know at least as many, i am sure, "serious" practicioners who appriciate Silver and her personal gifts and abilities in the world. She writes amazing fiction that appeals to both novices and the experienced. She writes her non-fiction for beginners, for people who are locked into this mundane reality, and if you ever read what she writes getting past a somewhat fluffy writing style, the words, exercises and explanations are not really that fluffy. Great, so they are not in the books you are giving away but i posted because there was a small foul, if you put down an author and get caught by her friend and supporter you can expet the opposite opinion to get posted. When i was very young i found her very helpful, a very approachable writing style. i have read all of her books that have come out since, not for knowledge but to see how she is presenting wicca to beginners. That is what she writes for, novices, and this is very good what would you have everyone stuck with Raymond Buckland, for pete's sake! First of all anami or shortend forms of the word should please not be capatalized, thanks. ~a~ |

1. I saw nothing wrong with what Melody said about Silver Ravenwolf... it is her opinion of a writer. She didnt say that everyone who reads her books are "fluffy" or "non-serious". She didnt say anything bad about Silver, unless you consider "bubblegum author" an insult.
2. I have a certain level of loyalty toward Silver as she was the first Wiccan author I read and her books made me want to learn more. I feel that that is the main purpose of her books. Yes they are a little "fluffy" but she has even said that ones knowledge should not stop at her books. Her books are for the very beginner, for those who have VERY little knowledge of what Wicca is. I view her books as the first step, but certainly not the last. 3. Yes, Silver's nonfiction books are pretty "fluffy", but her fiction books are not (well not the one I read anyways: Beneath A Mountain Moon). She is a FABULOUS fiction writer! I loved the fiction book I read by her. I actually would love to read it again. I would also like to give her teen fiction series a read too (cant think of the name of the series...). 4. With all that said, this thread is not about Silver Ravenwolf. 5. Very nice of you Melody to give away books for free! I'm sure someone would be in need of them! I unfortunately have 70-80 books on Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism, so I would probably be getting duplicate books if I took them off your hands.... are you giving them away seperately? If so, I would be interested depending on what is in your stack-o-books. Would you mind leaving a list of the books you have?? :-D Thanks and BB!

And you're right....if you have 70-80 books already, I'm sure there would be some overlap. I'll get back as soon as I know where I'm going with the current person. It's possible you may even have them all! ![]()

That is incredibly generous of you Melody! If you are unable to find homes for any of them then I'd be very willing to take them off your hands
. Like niamh, I would find a list of books useful because I don't want to take any off someone else which I already have. Also, just a quick question, what is UPS?

Melody, I think it is a very nice gesture, and had I been living anywhere near you, I might have taken you up on your offer - even though our bookcases at home are busting at the seams, and Marie would say her usual "What, MORE BOOKS???? !!!!" ![]()
