Meditation - Sara Campbell
(Meditation for a Beautiful Day) Ah, how beautiful is this day. How crisp and clean the air. How clear the sky. How full of life the teeming earth. And we are alive! Yes, we feel the beat of our own hearts, the pulsing of life in our veins, the rhythm of our breathing. We come into the silence of this time with gratitude for this day. We come also with our needs. Our gratitude stirs us to praise and sing our thanksgiving. Our loneliness draws us into the company of others. Our restlessness draws us into these moments of quiet. Our longing for the spirit brings us before the mystery of the holy. Our desire to heal our own wounds and the wounds of our world brings us here to renew our strength and hope. And we come into this space because we have gifts to share: words of healing and encouragement for those who are burdened; songs of praise and hope; smiles of comfort and affection; deeds of love and kindness. Each of us comes to dip into the well that nourishes our hungry spirits. Each of us comes with our own cup of goodness to pour into the well. We drink together. May we be strengthened in our bonds of love and peace. Source: 1997 UUMA Worship Materials Collection

Well, I didnt even know this thread was here... Great idea to have our own online UU Coffee Hour.
I hope you all will forgive me, I have not brewed any of my Equal Exchange coffee... it is a bit late in the evening. Well, I just finished catching up on my sleep from my "vacation". I use it in quotes, because this year I went back to my hometown of Knoxville, TN to visit family and friends. Visiting family is always rewarding, but not always refreshing. Everyone has been asking me "Do you feel refreshed by your vacation?" and no, I feel more tired than anything else. But, it was wonderful to see friends, my mother and sisters and aunts and uncles... and my new nephew. Though they are not UU's they named their son "Loki". I figure, with a name like that, when he creates chaos in their house they get what they deserve. We also traveled the 1000 miles there and back with our 9 month old kitty named "Athena." This was her first ever long car ride. I didnt know kitties had the lung capacity to meow for hours on end. But, eventually she settled down. She met her first dog. I also got to show my better 3/4th the mountains that made me an environmentalist (Great Smokey Mountain National Park) and meet with a Clinical Pastoral Education program and renew contacts with the first ever UU Church I visited. All in all, a great vacation, but tiring. I'm glad to be back. Maize, give me a few days. I did ponder some of your ideas and thoughts while driving... and I will get back to you. Hello, Coffee House denizens.
I think I may be a UU heretic. I like coffee, but I don't love it. I only drink it infrequently. I hope the UU Inquisition will not be knocking on my door as a result of this admission... |
