Any other Heroes viewers out there? Did you catch the season premier last night? If so, what did you think? I'm kind of torn. Heroes does a lot that's right, but the show can also be awful at times. Below is my opinion of the various storylines.
SPOILER WARNING - IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED READ NO FURTHER The Primary Action: The primary action involves FuturePeter setting off a Butterfly Effect that apparently destroys the world. Sylar gets Claire's powers, PresentPeter gets trapped in the mind of a bad guy, and the Level 5 baddies escape. There's much more to it, but that's it in a nutshell. Overall, I like this storyline. However, as with most things Peter, the viewer can quickly identify better ways to handle a situation. For example, why doesn't future Peter travel back in time to talk with Nathan rather than shooting him??? Oh well, at least we know mom's power now. Suresh and Maya: They win the most annoying couple award. By the end of season 2, Maya appeared to have learned how to control her power so why is she so desparate to have Suresh come up with a cure? Also, why does Suresh solve the riddle to mutant powers in a few seconds when daddy couldn't do it in a life time? I'm so sick of Maya's crying (although the actress is hot this season - not sure what the difference is). Question: Does the extract that Suresh discovered coincide with the formula Hiro is meant to protect? Hiro, Ando, and Flash: Hiro and Ando are the best thing about Heroes, IMO. Note: I said Hiro AND Ando - not Hiro. Hiro by himself can suck (see ancient Japan, season 2). Hiro is the most likable character on the show, but the interplay between him and Ando always takes it to another level. Hiro protecting the formula story line is my favorite and I love the scenes where Flash steals the formula, he stops time to take it back and they go back and forth. Bad news for Hiro. Apparently, Flash is even faster than time. As for the future, it looked like the Nothing from Neverending Story was destroying Tokyo. Nice effect. It was also surprising to see Ando with powers. Or, maybe it wasn't. After all, Suresh has the extract and Hiro has some formula. Yes! Superpowers for all!!! Parkman: Wasted. FuturePeter sends him to the Sahara. Oh well, at least he can communicate with turtles. Funny scene...but are there turtles in the Sahara??? Nikki/Tracy/Nathan: I like the idea of putting Nathan back into politics. It gives him something to do and he was much better in season 1 as a politician than he was in season 2 as a non-politician. However, I've never liked the Nikki actress and now that she's playing a different character with a different super-power, yet looks exactly like that stripper from Vegas left me scratching my head. Is it just another personality? That might NOT explain the different super-power. Is she a twin??? I'll just have to wait and see. That's all I've got for now. Anyone else care to discuss Heroes? |
