If you take scripture as a guide to spirituality, this quote may help:

So this is in some ways a testimony for gnosticism, since it is not words that conveys the message of God, but only the Spirit of God. Not only that , but are able to live according to what the spirit has communicated to you without anyone else being able to find fault with your way.

...of course thats if you believe in the Bible's authority, but in this case its the Bible telling us we can give all the fundamentalist preachers the bird, so I do tend to like this one!

God gives us what we are prepared to receive. After we have received a truth, we are responsible to live by it. So he doesn't give us anything we aren't ready for. This is all part of his mercy.
As you honestly try live by what you have received from him thus far, he will give you more. You will begin to understand more. The concealed truths will begin to become clear. This is how you grow closer to God. Continually learning and progressing.

I think God is constantly speaking to us. The Bible is merely a book full of truth. It's a place for answers. But I find that if you do nothing but read the Bible, it doesn't make you a very effective servant of God. You have to live life, cuz that's where God is.
