What does everyone think happens to our animal babies after death? Do they have a soul or spirit? Do you think they end up in the same place?
This was a short topic in my philosophy class... but my professor was an arrogant one. I don't remember where he got the basis for his stance... but he said they have no soul. i think it had something to do with Aristotles levels of being or levels of something...

I'm pretty sure they end up the same place we do.

How did he come to the conclusion that animals have no souls, and what evidence did he cite for humans posessing them?
At what point in hominid evolution did we aquire souls, and by what mechanism? |

I'm not for certian now, but I believe it had something to do with this figure:
Hegel and Plato Somehow he deduced from that or a similar model that animals were not a part of it, or were missing something that humans posess. Therefore, we move on when we die, and our pets just... turn to dirt basically. Sorry, I meant soul/ spirit/ essence. Whatever makes us sentient and intellegent and unique. The professor was purposefully trying to make us mad. Before he went on this rant, he went on a rant argueing for his right to beat his cat. But he was serious about the turn to dirt thing. It was about 2 years ago, so I don't think I still have notes from there.

I don't believe their souls are any different from ours. In fact, I believe they are the exact same. All souls reincarnate between all animals - humans included.

Well, you probably already know what I think, but just for the record... Of course I believe they have a spirit. I believe that when I get to Heaven, I will be bombarded with my furry friends!
