The only sin is to help the poor, the weak, etc. It is the way of nature for them to be weeded out. This may sound harsh, but it is for the greater good. Why? The One has placed them in circumstances of hardship so that they might learn, and more readily escape the cycle of Ghama, and become One! Therefore, to help the weakling is to sin against him.

While I would disagree on the mystical Ghama and One stuff, it does approach an interesting point about helping the weak. On one hand it prolongs their life, but on the other it makes them increasingly dependent upon others for their survival. The old, give a man a fish, teach a man to fish proverb.

If someone is obviously capable of helping themselves, then I could understand that. There are many circumstances where I think we should break your commandment and help the poor or weak. If people truly got what they deserve then maybe it would make more sense, but there are many idle rich and hard working poor. There are many people throughout the world who live on less than one dollar a day and not by their own doing. What progress can a person make if they are starving to death? As for helping the weak, what about children, or the elderly? Should they be left to care for themselves since they are the most helpless among us? We are all in this together. The world is much smaller than you think, we are all affected when someone is helped or neglected. What are your views on karma?

to all ,,It wld seem to me that we must look at what we mean by "helping". I am all for educating and making people self sufficient ,,but if it means giving them a handout,,naw! I gotta say too bad. We were watching T.V. last nite and they were plugging a ministery to give money to buy rice for the starving in Africa.I made the comment that to do that wld perpetuate the misery,If they can't grow food in Africa,they need to move to where there is a better agicultural base,not just stay there and starve and reproduce !Like the comediam said ,,they don't need food ,they need trucks,,,trucks to get them all out of there!!,,,harley dav.

Where do you suggest they go? What country do you know of would be willing to take in millions of starving Africans? How do you think they will pay for a truck if they can't even buy rice?

Survival of the fittest is good for wild animals, but humans are beyond that now. Giving them rice does not perpetuate their misery any more than not giving them rice perpetuates their happiness. Their misery is caused by civil war that has made millions homeless and stateless, genocide, mutilation, torture, starvation, and disease.

'The One' seems to promote isolation over community.

To believe compassion to be a sin implies that compassion is actually harm. If that is the case, then no man should be in contact with another. Each man should only try to fulfill their own needs and work their way to 'the top', or 'cycle escape', or whatever. It sounds remarkably similar to 'elitism' and 'social Darwinism'.

It is the opposite of community, which is based on the assumption that people are only weak and poor when they ARE alone. The reason there even is poverty in the world is because of the world's lack of compassion. So, if everyone in the world 'sinned' all the time, according to Fischism apparently, then there would be no poverty and weakness because everyone would help each other. Of course, no one would escape 'Gharma', but I think everyone would be too busy being happy to care.
