Depends on who's definition of God you're asking about. If it's Buttercup's imaginative version of God....yes, God is love..only love. However, I'm not sure if there is a God. If there is a God.....I'm now inclined to think he's either a big weenie and can't do anything about all the suffering going on down here. Or he's apathetic toward all the suffering. If I look at it that way, I'm not sure if I like God.

Sure, why not.... as long as Love doesn't have to think, plot, have a personality or exist independently of those who feel it...

It's just how you feel hon, and where you're coming from. I'm not conceptualizing god anymore than you are.

I agree, God is definitely love and I've felt the pure love of God.
It's as if nothing is broken, that's the only way I can describe it... Jewel spoke of it in her song "God's Hands". "I (God) am never broken" ~Jewel, Hands~ We are in God's hands and we will never be forsaken, even in our darkest hours in hell. either on this earth, or in the worlds to come.. God (Christ) has truly redeemed us all from hell, but we may spend time in hell, on this earth and/or in the worlds to come, but all will truly be redeemed from hell. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". I have been in the presence of Christ before, have not seen him, but knew he was there... I felt his perfect love, which I know most have never felt before and it's worth fighting and/or dying for. I have also heard the music/singing of angels in heaven and that alone is worth fighting/dying for, to be able to hear that again.. I've heard and felt what it would be like to be in heaven, but just for a few seconds, but have never seen heaven, but have read and listened to many people who have died and then come back to life and have told of what they've seen in heaven and truly it's worth all the garbage we have to go through in this life to be able to be a part of what awaits us in the next life.. Truly we are never broken in God's eyes. He loves us beyond what we have ever felt or can comprehend.. Again, I've felt this pure love of Christ and it's as if everything is new again, nothing is ever permanently broken in this world, it will all be made new again/renewed when Christ comes and reigns as the only ruler of this earth. Everythng in this life will pass away, but only those things done for Christ and in the name of Christ, will last for the eternities. ![]() Jewel - Hands If I could tell the world just one thing It would be that we're all ok And not to worry because worry is wasteful and useless in times like these I will not be made useless I won't be idled with despair I will gather myself around my faith for light does the darkness most fear My hands are small, I know, but they're not yours they are my (God's) own but they're not yours they are my own and I (God) am never broken Poverty stole your golden shoes but it didn't steal your laughter And heartache came to visit me but i knew it wasn't ever after We will fight, not out of spite for someone must stand up for what's right cause where there's a man who has no voice there ours shall go singing In the end only kindness matters In the end only kindness matters I will get down on my knees and I will pray I will get down on my knees and I will pray I will get down on my knees and I will pray My hands are small, I know, but they're not yours they are my own but they're not yours they are my own andI (God) am never broken My hands are small, i know, but they're not yours they are my own but they're not yours they are my own and I (God) am never broken We are never (permanently) broken (because Christ overcame death on the cross for all, which is a free gift to us all, whether we believe in Christ or not, we will live for eternity and not in hell, but in a world much much greather than this one.) We are God's eyes God's hands God's mind We are God's eyes God's hands God's heart We are God's eyes God's hands God's eyes God's hands We are God's hands God's hands We are God's hands ![]() Jewel - Hands (Live Acoustic) ![]() September 11, 2001 Jewel "Hands" ![]() Jewel - Angel Standing By Last edited by FFH; 08-17-2007 at 01:24 AM. |

Disagree!
It is never informative to equate apples with bananas even if I have a special apple that has attained a very high level of bananeryness. Banapples are an entirely different kettle of fish. If we are speaking literally then God is clearly not love since both concepts contain characteristics not contained by the other. If we are speaking metaphorically then this is one metaphor that is more appropriate for creating an aura of mystery than enlightenment and so not one that I find particularly useful.
