Hating your brother is the same in biblical terms as murdering him. Here are some verses:
Mat 5:21 You have heard that it was said to the ancients, "You shall not kill" --and, "Whoever shall kill shall be liable to the judgment." Mat 5:22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be liable to the judgment. And whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be liable to the sanhedrin; but whoever shall say, Fool! shall be liable to be thrown into the fire of hell. Mat 5:23 Therefore if you offer your gift on the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, Mat 5:24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. I think there are some Christians who need to keep that in mind. I have to continually remind this of myself when I become angry. James also talks about this: Jas 4:11 Do not speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against his brother, and who judges his brother, speaks against the Law and judges the Law. But if you judge the Law, you are not a doer of the Law, but a judge. Here is a verse from 1John: 1Jn 3:15 Everyone hating his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has everlasting life abiding in him There is more to being a good Christian than just loving God. |

Is everyone your brother Christine? Everyone is your neigbour but are they your brothers? I have never hated anyone in my life, I can say that with a clean conscience, I wouldn't know how to hate a person.
Be ye angry and sin not. Ephesians 4:25-26 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

No, I don't hate anyone. I do get angry now and then but I never stay angry for very long. All Christians are my siblings in Christ and everyone else is my neighbor. I am not sure who considers me their enemy, but I have no enemies to speak.

I think perhaps more religions (not necessarily just Christians) need to bear the maxim 'love thy brother' in mind - religion has started far too many wars throughout the course of history that could have quite happily been avoided had people just been tolerant and accepted one another's religions.

Luk 6:32-35
(32) For if ye love them which love you, what Grace (thank) have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. (33) And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what Grace (thank) have ye? for sinners also do even the same. (34) And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what Grace (thank) have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. (35) But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Thank you, wizanda, those are among my favorite verses in the Bible and ones that Christians tend to forget.

Did you notice the added correct Greek of the word ‘Grace’ as on every other occasion that word is 'grace', yet here is written as 'thanks'....and think it is important Yeshua showed what grace meant to him also....

I have to say that although I don't agree with everything you say, I do have respect for your posts and find them very enlightening. They make me think, and I do enjoy reading different points of view than mine. ![]() |

Latter-day Saints believe that we are all brothers and sisters. We are all children of the same Father in Heaven, who loves us equally. Draka and Hema and Danisty are my sisters, as are you. Sunstone and Victor and The Truth are my brothers. I truly believe it breaks God's heart when we fail to recognize each other as His children. We are all a part of His family. Some may be temporarily estranged, but that's between them and Him. It's our responsibility to love and respect everyone, regardless of their personal convictions. I don't need to agree with Catholic doctrine in order to call a Catholic my brother or with Baptist doctrine in order to call a Baptist my sister. This exclusionary attitude so many Christians have is just so... well, "un-Christian"!
