Too many think that being able to quote the bible is what really matters instead of understanding and adopting it's meaning.

Jesus taught on such moral themes but never said we could live it out in the flesh but only through the spirit when he indwells the believer.
We can come close to ultimate moral living and impress one another very convincingly
But the moral test is not fully administered until we stand before him
But when the spirit moves into the heart of the believer the morality standard is not relative to others around us,but Christ becomes the standard in which to follow and it is not grievous
The bible testifies of Jesus it never intended to impart eternal life
Jesus says Jhn 5:39 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
His message here in his mind was that it is not by the scriptures that you have eternal life but by faith in him

I am far too arrogant to backpeddle at this stage of the game Roli. I would first ask god for a mirror and then I would hold it up and tell him to take a long hard look. Hopefully the mirror would not crack. I would then fish for a cigarette and casually say, "Got a light?"

I agree. Hell can be a state of mind, and we have a choice to overcome it. But you probably knew I was referring to the Christian form of Hell

The Christian form of Hell does have a point...to scare people into submission. Any religion that has to threaten people with eternal torment to get them to follow it is definitely not for me. I find it a sign of weakness. If people adhere to a religion because they are afraid not to I find that sad. I would much rather feel loved unconditionally then threatened by an abusive parent. And IF I were to come face to face with the Christian God (and that's a mighty big IF) and there really IS a Hell that I would no doubt be going to for my wicked witch ways, then so be it. I would not apologize for, nor regret, living my life with knowledge and love and peace. If that god can't deal with that then so be it. That is not a kind and loving god anyway.
