We Catholics do believe in guardian angels based upon the teachings of our founder Jesus(Matt 18:10-11, Psalm 91:11). I can also say that we have prayers to guardian angels and other angels(Such as St Michael the Archangel) which seem to be very efficacious when dealing with cases of possession, infestation, and obsession and the lurings of the occult as shown by Catholic exocist.
Of coarse God alone is the one who gives them the Power to do what they do. Augustine, one of the greatest minds in the western early church had some interesting things to say about angels. Well that s my two cents
