Gods motives for Mass Extinctions

Yes I've noticed that often times everything gets obliterated once a ton of species are reaching decent peaks. All this tearing down and building back up wastes a lot of time.

As long as we remember that our big sister takes on about 80% of all cataclysmic damage we should be good. By big sister I mean Jupiter, there isn't really anything to save us from the sun (mars is dead)

I guess it depends on what school of thought you ascribe to. Pantheistic aproaches would say that it is simply in God's plan to evolve some species beyond others based on the natural selection process and the idea that the strongest survive is a genetic blueprint given to us by the creator to sustain our existance in an ever changing world, because as we all know - that which does not change grows stagnant and dies. Christianity and the other Abrahamic faiths would say that it is due to some form of sin or displeasure in God's eyes from the offending species, or that it in some way benefited Man to erradicate that species. Christian doctrine teaches that God is incapable of injustice or of doing anything evil and wrong, so therefore there is some divine reason which benefits the remaining species.

Personally, I think we as humans took the gift of free will that God gave us, and put it to work for more nefarious means.

I do believe God did what he did because satan has had 99% mislead all throughout the history of mankind, down to this day. Some had gotten so wicked God did what he had to do, usually he warned first. Like what is coming to the earth-Harmageddon--God warned mankind for the last 2000 years or so what is going to occur. But as it teaches--they took no note. Why?? because satan is misleading 99%.

Even if a pantheist would say it just goes it's natural course there should still be some sort of reason nature went this route. Depends on how much awareness nature has.

Wouldn't God be better at leading people than Satan? Were the dinosaurs sinners as well, misled?

This is offensive to me.

You must consider if Satan misleads 99% of people, then what 99% of what all people believes in is Satanic including you. So you're beliefs must be wrong and I'm a sin free Christian

I suspect there is very little intervention....however...

The Garden Event would be one such occasion.
The Flood would be another.
So too, Sodom and Gomorrah.
Some portion would be promoted...another destroyed.

I don't discount mass extinctions.
If not for the extinction of large dinosaurs, the development of smaller creatures would not have taken place.
Imagine trying to earn your keep in the field....
as large plant eaters roam at will.
