Alvin Ailey is highly regarded in the dance community for his contributions from his black heritage.......I love him in the same way that I love Katherine Dunham and her contributions to dance and the performance arts.
BTW, "Revelations" was choreographed and debuted in 1960. IMO, it's a beautiful piece of work.   YouTube - Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance of Revelations (part 5 of 5)
