Hello Dolly! (mystic, tradition, advent)

I'm dying to see some threads in this forum.

I work for a theatre, you know. We're going to do the play Hello Dolly this fall. As we progress through the casting process and the building of sets I can report on our progress if you would like. I'm a backstage guy, myself, but I might have a small part in the play like I've done in the past. I played a clown for a one minute part in Othello and the Boy Band Venice (a parody of Othello). I had the most elaborate costume and I was on stage for a minute. Though all that make up was really killing me.

I love the world of live theatre. I used to belong to a small, local theatre group. Our first production was 'The Music Man.' I don't believe the group has done 'Hello Dolly.' It sounds like lots of fun. I got the chance in '04 to see 'Guys and Dolls.' I was beside myself. lol Even having acted in productions myself, I still get giddy, especially when seeing some of my favourite actors and actresses.

Looks like I brought some "life" to this forum.

Last year we did Bye Bye Birdie. What a blast! That was a very fun play. The audience was dancing at the end.

The costumes were so cool, all fiftie's style. Hello Dolly is set in the 1880's which ought to result in some awesome cosutmes. Still no more news though. Casting, etc, most likely won't begin until August.

In the meantime, there's the one kind of acting I CAN do, that's improv. We do Who's Line Is It Anyway kind of shows, but we have 8 actors instead of just 4 and we're split into two "teams". It's pretty fun, but I must say the audience suggestions of WAL MART, CHEESE, AND ALIENS gets very old after a while!

I have been doing live theater with the community for about 5 years now and want to continue but I had to take this summer off to get a 'real' job. (or just one that pays more money )

Our theatre does traditional melodramas with the villan, hero, and the others with much audience participation! After an hour play, we do a musical revue with comedy, singing, dancing, stories and much more. Our theatre was an old bordello next to the railroad. It is said to be haunted, but it's lots of fun to got upstairs to our dressing rooms and costumes/props rooms.

I miss it a lot. Unfortunately right now there is a lot of politics being played, so maybe it's better that I'm not there now.

I go the the Opera House here in Spokane to see plays quite a bit. I enjoy them greatly. In highschool I acted in most of our plays, was a Thespian officer, and still know way too many people in the theatre scene. I guess I'm about the only one who "grew out" of wanting to do the actual acting. My family and a few friends still bug me once in awhile to join a local group; but I just don't have the time.

I LOVE going to the Spokane Opera House!!! I probably couldn't count how many times I've been there. Luckily, for school, we often got to see many musicals as well as orchestras. Also, I've been there on my own, with family and/or friends.

For the middle of the Pacific Northwest, it really is a great Opera House. Good shows come all the time too. Haven't seen "Hello Dolly" here yet though.
