My focus in my meditation this morning was the true nature of the Tao. Not the eternal Tao, but the natural Tao and its Chi. At the end, I noticed that my legs were hurting, and the incense was done burning, and the candles were burning, and then I knocked on my altar. Now that is the true nature of the Tao!!!

Do you understand that?? What are your opinions??

I'm not sure I understand that, but I'll give it a go... you meditated to understand the "natural Tao", as in the Tao that we understand and that is a "visible" part of the world. When you finished meditating, you found the natural Tao at work all around you: cause and effect, or natural laws you could say.

You sat in an odd position, which caused your legs to hurt.

You set incense on fire, which caused the incense to burn and the fire to eventually go out when it no longer had anything to consume.

You lit the candles, and the fire provided light.

You... knocked on your alter? Hmm... you recognized that even the alter is a natural part of the world, just like your body, like the incense, the fire, the candles... and the Tao?

And don't forget the sound of the altar. That is very important. That shows the affect the natural Tao had on me without pysicalities. But very good runt. Very good indeed.

Overall I'm stumped.

All I can come up with concerns the the burnt incense. It has gone the WAY of all things, yet its fragrance still fills the air?

No doubt i'm way off.

One day a master called his student to his quarters. The student was laughing and the master asked why. The student then said, I finally achieved enlightenment!! The master then smacked him on the head with his staff. The student was confused as to why he did so. The master then calmly asked the student... "how far will your head go before it smacks into a staff again?" The student was puzzled. Then the master quickly smacked him again. And then calmly said... "Too quick."

an enlightened mind is unhindered. This was the master trying to tell the student his enlightenment was false.

You gave an answer, that answer was good, but you must not let yourself be stumped. Don't let anything hinder your mind. Look past the words, look past the obvious, and notice the amazing.
