Default Asian Studies Course

At my high school, once you finish your Freshman history course (Modern European or Contemporary) and your Sophomore history course (US History with different levels of difficulty), you may take one of many different history courses, including Post War, Economics, Dictators, Psychology, Western Civilization, African Studies, Asian Studies, and many more. I really want to take Asian Studies next school year, it was my # 2 choice, behind post war, which is a difficult class to get into so I may not get it. I want to double enroll my senior year so I take 2 different History Courses at once, so I can take African studies too.
I'm currently a sophomore.

A big portion of the Asian Studies is Eastern Philosophy, including Taoism. I think it will be an awesome course.

Don't envy me. Just appreciate the experience and perhaps you will (or already have) experience a similiar one.

I envy you for your dedication to Taoism and your knowledge.

We didn't have cool subjects like that when I was at school, but I took Japanese Studies and Asian History when I was at Uni, they were two of my favourite subjects.

I went to a high school where I had little to no choices about what to take but so much friggin' free time that I could study all of this on my own. Sure, I didn't have a very discerning eye for good material versus bad, but it sure laid a better foundation for college than anything I was getting in actual classes.

I don't know what your academic ambitions are but if you plan on going to college and you have the chance to take AP, then take boring AP classes now and put off cool subjects, like eastern philosophy until you get to college. I just wouldn't trust the Tao-te-Ching to high school teachers, let alone most college professors.
