The uncarved block - P'u. What does it mean to you? Is it better to live in a simple way, always ready to change? Or is it better to try to mold ourselves, and think our design is the right design for us? Is there a right design?

I think it’s best to be a liquid.

Is someone who’s always ready to change, really able to think for themselves? To be able to tell a falsity? I think it’s good to mold ourselves, but to always be open to changing that mold if we see fit. An uncarved block, a blank sheet of paper, they really don’t do anything but present a hope for more. It’s like…a gift, all wrapped up and just waiting to be opened. Well, whether it’s something you’ll like or not, you’ve got to open it first.

Thanks M.V; I personnally go for the 'uncarved block' I don't think there is ever any right or wrong, and (for me) I believe that perpetual adaptation is an essential part of life. As for 'is there a right design?' I would say no; otherwise we would'nt be individuals.

The uncarved block symbolizes pure potential to me. It can become almost anything... but if it isn't carved, it will just be a block of wood.

I think I like to think of a block of clay more than a block of wood. Even after it hardens, you can crush it, mix it with water, and make something new.

I'm with the idea that you should return to simplicity and be ready to change any time , most problems are caused becasue people are unable to let go and change
