The important aspect of this is that a female is competing from a nation that would not allow it before now. Progress.
I have my own opinion about the accommodation made which I'll just go ahead and dismiss myself because I'd rather her compete than not. |

She lost her 1st match, but won the greater battle.
I hope it doesn't bring harm to her or her family back home. Now, I gotta see the sprinter with no feet run!

I'm not really surprised she lost quickly. Apparently, she was the first blue belt ever to compete in Olympic judo, and she's only been practicing the sport for 2 years. Still, I think what she did was admirable. |

I think it's great that female athletes from these very conservative countries are competing. It's sad to think that once again, her wardrobe was almost as newsworthy as her presence in the Games. One can ony hope that as more women compete, the governments and zealots of these societies will begin to see the big picture rather than focus on how much neck is showing.
Kudos to her for braving it out with women who far outranked her; she lost the judo fight, but won the battle for women of KSA and many other countries. So sad about the Qatar runner; her start was doomed from the second she left the blocks. I hope she remembers the experience of opening ceremonies and all the unity with that over her race she couldn't complete. It was cool to see the Iraqi woman runner advance to the finals in the 100m. Progress is slow, but moving forward.
