Religion is not politics and I agree with Pinky on that. And there should be strong seperation of church and state so the country can function well.

We've seen what happens in the past when any country mixes too strongly with religions where their mission is to spread the news.

I would certainly hope the administration would be so kind as to allow you a stay on the forums, seeing as how I'm a communist. I'm sorry I couldn't welcome you earlier, Pinky. I was gone to Greece and Turkey. Both beautiful countries.
Welcome aboard. In memory of the late George Carlin: “I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.”

![]() The association between atheism and communism comes from Karl Marx, who called organized religion the opiate of society - it is used by the masses, he said, to relieve the pains felt by living and certain oppression. Despite popular misconceptions, Marx never favored banning religion and indeed he looked at the religions of the world in a mixed way: seeing them both as deceitful, but also comforting. In essence, religion is an effect, not a cause. An ardent atheist Marxist would claim that organized religion will whither away as material abundance continues forward and poverty, hunger, drought, disease, and other ills subside. Commodity fetishism, or love for the material world, will (it is believed by some) replace organized religion. The Soviet Union under Stalin took many contradictory stances. At the onset of collectivization churches were torn down in reaction to the close association between the monarchy and religion, but during World War 2 the Russian Orthodox came back in order to increase national morale. Abortion was banned after becoming legalized under Lenin for the first time in Russia's history. Most interestingly, the death penalty was temporarily abolished in 1948 - and indeed the Soviets started pushing for global abolition of the death penalty - until only a few months later when they brought it back. ![]() Many renown religious individuals like Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi were socialist. As an independent theory socialism has developed across Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and Taoism. Under communism there wouldn't necessarily be a "separation of church and state" since the state (viewed as a hierarchal institution which claims ultimate say over a geographical area) will be gone, but religion would be left for private matters.
