Default intercession.

Is it considered meritiorious for sikhs to pray at the tombs of holy men, e.g. the Gurus? If you have done this, has it been a positive experience?

Tombs or places associated with great men in one's religion. Surely that is a wonderful experience. It brings your thoughts to what they said. I am a hindu. I was very happy to visit Adi Sankara's place of mahasamadhi (where he expired) at Kedarnath, high up in himalayas. Same experience at Golden Temple in Amritsar (After all Guru Nanak is ours also).
