THOSE WHO HOLD BACK FROM HIJRAH (MIGRATION)
It is not permissible for the Muslim to re- side in the lands of the disbelievers when there are Muslim lands that exist. This is especially so if his residence in the lands of disbelief will involve him in fitnah [trouble for his religion]. Allaah does not accept the excuse of those refrain from making Hijrah (migration). Thus. Allaah informs us that the angels will reproach this group of people at the time of death and they will not accept their excuses when they plead to them saying that they were oppressed in the land. Allaah says (which means): Verily as for those who the angels take in death while they are wronging themselves, they say to them: "in what state were you?" They reply: "We were weak and oppressed in the land." They (angels) say: "Was not Allaah's Earth spacious enough for you to migrate?" Such men will find their abode in Hell-what an evil destination! Except the weak among men, women and children who cannot devise a plan nor are they able to make their way. Surat An-Nisaa (4:97-98) Allah does not accept excuses from such individuals, except for those who are weak and can not find the method to leave, and they are not able to make away by which they will be directed to the land of Islaam. [Note from the editors: this is a general rule that has been under-explained here. One is encouraged to see what the great wise scholar Ibn'Uthaymeen explained about related guidelines in the book "Explanation of the Three Fundamental Principles of Islaam" (al-Hidaayah Publishing)] http://www.allaahuakbar.net/scholars..._hell_fire.htm Is this saying that if Muslims are being persecuted in a non muslim country they should live in a Muslim one? And if you don't you will find you're abode in Hellfire?? ![]()

if you are living against the rules of islam, it is not an acceptable excuse to say it was because of oppression or crap like that. if it is too much to handle where you live, then move.
as truth said, if you want more opinions it would be best to post this again in the general islam forum ![]() peace

Dr. Umar Sulaymaan al-Ashqar, THOSE WHO ENTER THE HELLFIRE BUT WILL NOT REMAIN IN IT FOREVER, Discover the True Religion of Muslim - Islam a way of life, About Islam, Muslim, Quran, Religion, Allah, Muhammad, Islamic peace if your familiar with the statement of the prohet at one time he sent his followers to abisinia which was rulled by a chritian king he the prophet said"GO THERE FOR THERE IS A KING THERE WHO IS JUST" . The basic meaning of the verse is that no matter were you are if theres evil were you reside go were its safer, better, cleaner eg if your child was in a school which you found out was misguiding your child you would send the child to another school you may even move for the childs futur. Its not the way your making it sound as if we cannot live amongst non muslims. I love to chat with you in futur. peace. |

remember that old saying, "when in rome, do as the roman's do." i live in a (everyone around here calls them boaters) community that has new commers from all over the place. and one thing i can tell you i have observed more times than not is that many of these people seem to think god cannot see them over here in hamtramck, mi. u.s.a. the overall point i think that the statement says is that when moving to a new land where there are different customs, religions, etc. it can strain your faith, and it can make it hard to do what your faith demands you to do. instead of selling out, move to a place that is less stressful for your practice in your faith. i believe in short this this directed at folks who are weak sprititually, because the strong can survive anywhere spiritually.

0The verse quoted has an important qualifier as well. It states that when the angels apporach them WHILE THEY ARE WRONGING THEMSELVES........ This is an important point because it signifies a specific group of people not the general body of muslims. Wronging themselves in this case means involving themselves in haram activity, without any real reason for it. It will not be an acceptable reason to say that because others were doing it, peer pressure, and so on that we were negligent in performing our duty to Allah. If the enviroment is so bad, then move to a better one, but do not disobey Allah under the guise of it being too hard to do where you are.
