Default Imaam Mahdi

I'm currently reading about the coming Mahdi as it is a matter of interest and significance to me, could one of you tell me if this is true please, it's from an islamic site:

The Signs of Imaam Mahdi
1) He will be from the progeny of the Prophet and descendent of Fatimah (R.A). Umme Salama (R.A) reported: I heard the Prophet of Allah () saying, "The Mahdi will appear from my progeny, from the descendants of Fatimah." (Abu Daud)
2) His name will be Muhammad or Ahmad and his father's name will be Abdullah. Ibne Masood (R.A) reported that the Prophet said, "If there remains in the world but a day, the mighty Allah will greatly prolong that day till he will send there in a man from me or from the members of my house. His name will be similar to my name and his father's name to my father's name." (Abu Daud)
3) He will resemble the Prophet in character. Hadrat Ali (R.A) once looked at his son and remarked, "This son of mine is Saiyid who was named by the Prophet and soon from his loins will come forth a man by the name of your Prophet and who will resemble him in conduct but not in appearance." (Abu Daud)
4) He will have a shiny forehead and a high bridge nose. Abu Saeed reported that the Prophet said, "The Mahdi will appear from me, shining of forehead, long of nose." (Abu Daud).
5) Once Hadrat Ali (R.A) was asked regarding his description. He replied, "He is a well built youth of average height and a handsome face, his hair reaches his shoulders and the light of his face is contrasted by the darkness of his hair and beard." (Al-Isha'ah)
6) He will be slow of speech (a slight stutter) and when he is delayed, he will strike his left thigh with his right hand." (Al-Isha'ah)
7) He will appear from the east. Thawban (R.A) reported that the Prophet said, "Three men will be killed at the place where your treasure is. Each of them will be the son of a Khalifah but none of them will get hold of the treasure. Then the black banners will come out of the east, and they will slaughter you in a way that has never been seen before. If you see him give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice, because he is the Khalifah of Allah, the Mahdi." (Ibne Majah) Only some of the signs that will precede Imaam Mahdi and of the Mahdi himself have been gathered in this book. The true Mahdi, the one referred to in the Ahadith of Prophet as one of the signs of Qiyamah, is the one in whom the pre-mentioned signs are found.

Thanks a lot F.V.M, I wanted to check with a Muslim first in case it was a site saying things that weren't true, it is much better to go to a direct source. I can carry on reading it now. Thanks again.

I know that the first five points are correct. The sixth and seventh, although, i have never heard of. I've heard many scholars say that where the Mahdi will appear, is unkown to us. Wallahu A'lam (and Allah knows).

You interested in him? His story goes hand-in-hand with the coming of the dajjal/antichrist. Interesting area of Islam to study and one of my favorite. The environment surrounding the arrival of dajjal as explained in Islam is roughly equivalent to the Bible's book of revalation. Although revelation used to scare me when I was little, because I didn't know about things being metaphorical. Only when I got older i understood it. Now with the current condition of the world, I see that it is political as well as a spiritual attack that is happening.

I could talk all day about this. As far as I'm concerned, the world is preparing for the coming of dajjal through its various attacks on religions in general. I see a mounting attack not only on the ideals of Islam but Christian ideals as well. I named it an anti-god attack.

Oh well. I guess I'll stop right there. Anyway have a good read. I think you'll find that you know most of that stuff already from reading the bible. There has not been a prophet who has not warned people about dajjal.

This too has been of interest to me as President Amadidajan of Iran has publicly said he will be the one to hasten the return of the Mahdi which means starting Armageddon. I read that when he was the mayor of Tehran he had the main boulevards widened to accommodate the grand parade that would take place for the returning.

Q: Could you please tell me the Hadiths narrated concerning Al-Mahdi and their significance?

A: There were many Hadiths narrated concerning Al-Mahdi, ranging between being fabricated, weak, sound, and authentic. However, the authentic Hadiths narrated in that respect are very few.

Authenticity of Hadiths Pertaining to Al-Mahdi

Cool, my understanding of the Holy Bible is very prophetic, it is full of prophecy and much is still to come in the exact manner proposed (unless it is clearly being symbolic). The coming of your mahdi ties in with some things I believe about end times events.
There is an attack on the worship of God in general going on that is undoubtable, the developement of evolutianary thinking and it's subsequent effects on society are clear for any one to see though trying to prove it is pointless and boring. Not all of Revelation is metaphorical F.V.M much is literall also and Daniel and a few other prophets need to be understood to have a clear understanding of it.
The world is certainly perparing for the antichrist, that i am completely sure of but that is possibly where our similarites end.

Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

"Jesus, son of Mary, will descend, and their leader, the Mahdi, will say, 'Come and lead us in prayer.’ But he will say, ‘No, one of them should lead them as an honor to this Ummah from Allah."

(Reported by Muslim)

When that will take place, nobody knows.

Only Allah knows
