Hi There,
New poster from Livepool UK here. Big shout to all UK'ers! Came across this by chance. Early 30's guy here with strong religious upbringing that i walked away from (catholic school, hassle with the teachers in a not good way) but always felt the draw back for comfort and direction in life. My confuison is that i act the gay lifestyle but wonder if i am gay as way of gicing two fingers to the church / school for the things that happened to me. You know they bang on about family but are in to touching a young guy up. At the same time i finds my lifestyle is stopping me returning fully to God. I cant sort out whats in my head. Anyone here having same experience ??? |

There's nothing that says being religious and being homosexual is mutually exclusive.
![]() Perhaps you're having hang-ups because maybe the Church and the religion that you grew up in is not the one that will suit you and your life now.

welcome to the forum, and hello from a Nottinghamshire lad! (though i'm at Lancaster at the moment)
tough subject, being gay myself, i left Christianity for its dogmatic view and found myself a new religion. if you really want to commit to the Christian God, and commit to Catholic doctrine, you may have to concider celibacy. there are many liberal branches of Christianity that might also appeal to you, if you are interested in looking ![]()

Hi, Len here (or Lola to her friends)
Have a very similar experience of the catholic upbringing thing, and being a cross-dresser, find it very difficult to imagine turning up to mass as Lola, though truth is, that's how I feel most comfortable. Am estranged from my family as they think i'm a freak, destined for hell, but i can't work out what's so wrong since God gave me these feelings. Didn't he mess up putting me in the wrong body, since I can't help how I am? |

Hi Len / Lola,
Hope you aint one of the ugly ones I cant stick them that look like men in a wig !! Sorry mate no offence meant. I know a guy that wears his wifes dress when he feels all stressed, but he wouldnt say he was a cross dresser just gets comfort from the fabric i guess. Are you a full timer ? i think not as you give yourself two names ?? |

I see no reason why you can't choose to be gay and Christian at the same time. Just ignore the traditional anti-homosexual view and enjoy it! I am one who believes that a person can pick and choose among religious ideas according to their experience. Why not?

I'm not a full timer,as i'd find it difficult to carry on working etc. I'm in an environment where I work with kids, so you can imagine the ridicule not to mention the objections from parents if I turned up as Lola. It is how I feel most comfortable though and i get more and more confused and frustrated as time goes on. ![]() |
