ilm is the arabic word that refers to knowledge, scientific/religious knowledge.
why do people separate science and religion? they are the same. scientific knowledge just increases faith for those who really believe that God is One. unless of course someone follows a path that is different than that taught by the prophet(s) they claim to follow. then they will see differences.

Oh they have proof in the judicial sense, but not evidence. At least not in the scientific sense. Just thought I'd point that out.

i think what's he saying is not like 'religion is science'. Ilm is science and it is given to people by God. however science could 'be' without religion, religion is never without science. therefor it happened to be a religious Muslim who uncovered/discovered number 0.
