My Science classes used to consist of debates about why religion and science are such opposites. We also occasionally did chemistry, i lit myself on fire with methanol, not fun.

Life's experiences and observations stole my religion, but science served as a catalyst.

Well, there's always the issue of evolution, plate tectonics, spherical earth, etc.

Yes... seemingly it has. What's the likelyhood that God is going to cure my disease? Slim to none. What's the likelihood that science is? Not much, but a helluva lot greater than God.

Which aren't even an issue for several religions. Really, those things only become a problem for YECers.

Yep, wasn't even paying attention to that one. That is just a bit outdated isn't it? ![]()

Science once borrowed my religion without asking, then brought it back with no gas in the tank and a cpl of scratches that weren't there before.
Wait a minute...that was my roomate and my moped. Nevermind.

I think if you are a Christian or a Muslim Science may have barged into your holy place without knocking on a couple of instances. One I could spell out here is the existence of a soul.
In biology all life is dna and carbon based/organic no exceptions. Energy, with is the most common explanation by the religious of those two religions but in science there is no such thing as "living energy". The soul is the origin of emotions in Christianity and Islam but the brain is the origin of emotions in science. In biology life is finite and in religion through the soul life is infinite. If you believe there is a soul you have a belief that aggressively conflicts with life science and your three choices are to 1) reject major precepts of biology genetics and other life sciences 2) reject the notion of the soul by realizing it is incompatible with life sciences 3) pretend they both fit together even in light of mutual exclusive aspects of both. |
