Science is a tool for seeking knowledge and truth, and doesn't recognize what we see as moral issues. It never makes a moral call like that. The law sets it's boundaries. It's not pretty, but science couldn't care less; if it was legal to kill 1-yr-old babies for research, science would do it. So for me, the argument about the sanctity of life is merely an argument between ourselves. And thankfully (hopefully?), where I live, no religious group is going to dictate that; it'll be hammered out by lawmakers democratically. Of course no such system is ever perfect or without lobbyists of inflated power, but this is the model I prefer.

Science couldn't tell us anything as it doesn't involve moral issues. This would be something left to society and the law. Law and ethics provide some borders to science, thus, if I wanted to perform an experiment of seeing how long-term isolation affects humans, I'd have to lock up various participants probably for different times in isolation. However, this would be regarded as illegal and unethical. So, science cannot dictate when there's a right to life. It could give us various examples of life but as for deciding when there's a right to it, ethics, morals and lawmakers would need to be involved.

Hopefully, someday soon, methods of birth control will be so effective and easy to implement that the idea of abortion will become an extinct idea.

Methods of birth control are already quite simple to implement, yet literally thousands of teens still get pregnant out of wedlock, it's not so much that technology is lacking, but proper education of use by parents and society in general is lacking, and/or irresponsibility or a disconnect between cause and effect is going on with the teens in question.

What blasphemy!
I am sure you will be going to hell for even thinking such evil thoughts!!

I beg to differ. Birth control is quite a hassle. Condoms can be unreliable, and can interfere with intercourse to an extent (which sometimes causes partners to use the pull-out method). Not everyone can use the pill because of adverse reactions to the hormones and missing a single day may cause a pregnancy. Other methods such as IUDs and vasectomies are quasi-surgical procedures and are not all that convenient to implement (or reverse).

That's true I did. I don't know if you think so, but it is a negligible difference. My point remains though. Obviously birth control is not easy/convenient enough to implement to the point that abortion is an extinct idea because....abortion is not an extinct idea.
