Good question, Sunstone.

For my money, currently, science cannot tell us when a fetus becomes a person.

Now, that's not to say that it will never be so, but with our current limits of knowledge, science does not have a method to measure (and subsequently, be disproven) when "personhood" occurs.

For now, it remains a personal opinion.

I would submit that man's laws (for good or ill) are usually reflections of the collective beliefs of the individuals.

When it is so "easy" or "convenient" that no one will have unwanted pregnancies. I have been using that as the meter of their definitions this whole time. If you want me to get into specifics, then here goes:

It will not have unwanted medical side-effects for anyone. It will be inexpensive and freely available to anyone. It will not interfere with sex in any way. It will be absolutely reliable.
