I found out a new reason people dislike science. I was watching a show on the Science channel about Jupiter (my favorite branch of science being astronomy) and my son told me it was incredibly boring (I certainly disagreed with him). Then I watched Cosmos this evening only to be informed that it, too, was boring. I never found it boring, but I guess most people do.
My son is 12, but when Cosmos was first on back in the late 70s or early 80s), I was about 13 and didn't find it boring back then, either.

I have a forum with over 90,000 registered users who enjoy learning about physics, stoichemistry, oceanography, barophysiology and the ideal gas laws.
People learn and enjoy things that make a difference in their lives. If they don't NEED science, then they just won't appreciate it. Go figure. |
