Ugh, and too often do I hear that criticism. It's like complaining that Historians don't paint. Of course they don't. They're historians, not painters. Scientists won't tell you why people are here (Perhaps quantum physics can someday, in the extremely far future, hint to it), but that doesn't mean you can just ignore it.

Anyway, these crazy criticisms.

1. The purpose of science is to discredit religion.

2. Science is just an atheist religion. Often in the same sentence as the first objection.

3. Science can't tell us anything for certain, it's all just theories. This is the IDer jewel in the crown.

Whilst this is a criticism of science, I wouldn't call it crazy but entirely accurate. It is perhaps more of an observation than a criticism and when some people, such as IDers, use it as such then it certainly is crazy.

The converse claim about science is perhaps even more crazy, however.

I suppose it's only crazy in the context that science can't be trusted because it's not certain.
