Don't you think you are being a tad hard on science here? To say that it is all fiction simply begs the question!

It is my humble opinion that science and religion barely overlap in what they try to describe. The spiritual can not hope to describe the physical and the converse is equally as true. Vetting one as superior to the other is sheer arrogance or stupidity and as someone pointed, quite indicative that you don't fully understand either.

In order to compare science and religion in that way, you first have to assume that they can both be tested in the same way. But, they can't. Science is a collection of ideas that gets studied and perhaps later becomes fact. Religion also is a collection of ideas that cannot become fact for the simple reason that we have not developed a system that can prove or disprove the existance of God.

A religious person would say science was based on perceived facts, not real facts,
and a religious person would say religion was based on known facts, facts like the Crucifixion, and the Bible, and a host of other FACTS, but then, they would wouldn't they.
No I wouldn't. I do not believe that fact is something that can be applied to faith. I have no facts for my religion. I also believe that where reason can apply, it should trump faith. The only place where my faith contradicts with science is in the use of the term "fact" since I believe it to be a limiting term.
