Which Is Higher: Deity Or Truth? (Jesus, faith, God, religion)

God is Holy and has certain attributes like that He cannot lie, so it is not within Him, within His divine nature to lie or 'mix up truth and falsehood'. He is omnipotent, but He is Holy, and using our feeble logic, like, uh, well, could he make a rock so heavy he couldn't lift it, can't come close to understanding everything about God, its like we have a cup of ocean water and saying we understand the ocean. We do have God's Word which the Bible says, "Thy word is truth", in which God has revealed all we need in this life to know about Him. And the more we read His word, the clearer and greater our understanding of Him becomes.

How do we know deity cannot lie to us, Joe?

And if deity can indeed lie to us, would that not imply that truth was in some sense higher than deity?

I said truth trumps deity.

If it is possible that there is deity, than there is also possible that a deity can lie to it's followers. Therefore, truth trumps deity if the deity does not tell the truth.

If we are talking absolute Truth, then it tops God. Not that theres anything wrong with that, but even God's decisions are coloured by His experiences and personal feelings. Still, I think God's truth is the closest thing to absolute Truth that anyone is going to get at.
Also, in my personal faith, "deity" is not God or a god. Its just a force or energy, its the stuff the universe is made out of. So in that aspect, Truth and diety are the same.

Truth is personified in the diety of God of the bible through His Son Jesus Christ only,(as he is the living word of God), through faith,by believing ,recieving and confessing Jesus as Lord and is a subjective truth personally experienced, initially, but ultimately becomes and remains an objective (external to the mind or outside the relam of reason or natural understanding) truth that is continually revealed but not always understood and verified rationally or scientifically by those outside.

Are we looking for dieties and our defense of them as oppossed to truth, if so, this shall indeed be our unending quest,to claim,defy,refute rationalize and phiolosophize the dieties that this pluralistic society has ultimately created to be it's truth,but if it is truth that we all so earnestly seek,which I believe it is, then why not find what you believe to be truth and remain there.

Sometimes I think those who refute and deny the claim that Jesus is the embodiment and complete expression of truth, do so, because they are uncertain of their own source of truth,whatever that may be found in,eg: the pursuit of religious practice,morality,science ,knowledge,self,nature or the material.

So in essence, truth trumps diety, providing the diety is something other then the One true God of Abraham,Issac and Jacob otherwise truth is the personification found in Jesus and is in himself diety, so they exist together in that sense as equal ,one in the same.
