I think the theory is that only humans were vegetarians. Other animals ate meat, as far as I know. The Bible doesn't really say, but I see no reason to believe that EVERY animal was a vegetarian.

You mean as soon a Eve bit that apple, all the animals got a taste for meat and developed teeth to match?

some ate vegitation
some ate what the could find

But they would all have been long extinct before an Eve came along.

Well according to my bible study leader.. before they ate off the fruit everything was in harmony and there was no killing for food. If this is true then dino's didn't kill for food!!!! and if they were extinct before adam and eve then no dino ever hunted for food! How does the timline for dino's compare to the creation of the planet in genisis?

I personally think dino's were allowed to hunt each other because it doesn't matter to us. When humans came into the picture then the rules changed and we lived in harmony..

I can't believe I'm even going to get involved in this discussion, but here's my idea: perhaps the Garden of Eden was a secluded place where the rules were different. Outside the Garden of Eden, animals went about their business as usual, killing and eating just like we're used to. But inside the Garden of Eden, this harmony existed. Adam and Eve did not hunt until after they were expelled. Just a thought.

Maybe the Earth, as we know it, has been around for a few billion years AND there exists a place called the Garden of Eden. Only it is not accessible to us without God's invitation. That way, we have dinosaurs and fossils and an accurate calendar and Genesis instead of assuming man to be 6000 years old. Just another thought.

If you 'buy in to' the paradise, Garden of Eden imagery, I guess nobody ever needed to eat; I can't imagine any killing going on in a 'perfect' setting........
