Pace Quentin Smith, we can say that one part of the Universe causes another ad infinitum. Just as we do not need Thor in addition to meteorology to explain the weather , we no more need God to explain Existence- the parts at once. Hume-Russell- Edwards insistence on the composition fallacy as the fallacy behind cosmological arguments fails but that failure does not aid theists but does aid us naturalists!
