Why would it be a waste of time? Are you saying you're pretty sure Runt's friend won't pass the test, and therefore it isn't necessary? Or do you think whether or not people can communicate with ghosts is unimportant?

I think people learn the truth by getting educated and testing ideas to see for themselves if they work. Statistically, beleif in things like witchcraft, voodoo, demonic posession, alien abductions, and astrology decrease with education. The most interesting thing about this is it has almost nothing to do with intelligence...only one's level of education.

I for one am glad some people found it worth their time to debunk the notion of witchcraft. I only wish people had found it worth their time ealier, so they could have saved tens of thousands of people from horrible deaths by burning at the stake.

Lightkeeper perhaps you dont find them worth spending time on because in your mind you have already debunked them and found them not usefull to you?

Life is all about looking at the world around you and making choices on what to believe and what not to believe... That is foundation of religion and morality and science.

Mr. Spinkles... I would like to think that I am inteligent and I DO have a fair amount of education... and I believe in some of the things you listed (to varying degrees obviously)

As I recall from my studies it was the people who were practicing Witchcraft or people suspected of practicing Witchcraft that were killed. In this case the skeptics were the killers.

No, silly-- the people who burned witches thought the reason their crops didn't do well this year is because the old lady next door brewed up some snake oil and bat wings and put a curse on them--the witchburners were not skeptics, they were the opposite...they were paranoid and superstitious.

Well, obviously I think we should 'live and let live'. I mean, I don't advocate breaking into the houses of people who beleive in astrology, kidnapping their children and burning their houses down or anything. People are free to pursue happiness beleiving what they want. But the fact remains that astrology, faith healing, and many other things don't "work" for anyone, except perhaps for people like John Edward, who make a good deal of money from preying on the vulnerable and gullible.

I believe in psionics, as well as "magick". I also believe I will be here in 5 seconds. Even though there is no evidence I will (past is no indication of future), and there is evidence that I could disapear (quantum teleportation, happens all the time), I believe I will still be here. Am I not a skeptic for believing so? I believe in psionics and "magick" (for lack of better term), because I have proved them to myself. I don't need to prove it to anyone else, as I have shown myself. I have my own evidence, based mostly on experiences.
