Default Ghosts and the Paranormal
I was doing a research on the paranormal and EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) for my psychology class and it really got me thinking - can these things be real? There are just so many things in this world that we can't fully account for and fully understand. Could ghosts or the spirit of the deceased be one of these?

EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) especially. There are tons of audio clips and pictures with people's testimonials insisting that EVP is real and that ghosts, a reality. I always thought of trying EVP on the computer, but always became hesistant in the minute possibility that it could be real and that other wordly beings reside with us ... and especially in my house? One of these days i'll muster up enough courage and maybe stupidity to actually attempt it.

On a more personal note - i just found out something really disturbing. We moved out of an apartment into the house that we live in today. The apartment was a second story unit and we were close with the people that lived underneath us. After we had moved away, we got a phone call from the people that lived downstairs, asking us if we were in the apartment late at night, always around 1 or 2 a.m. We said of course not, and they said that they had been hearing footsteps and running sounds in what used to be my bedroom! I really wanted to go and find out what was up, but my parents were very superstitious as were the people who called us and thus, I was prohibited from going. They soon moved out a couple of weeks afterwards (not because of these reason) and we haven't gotten an update since. My parents stated that it was their fervent worshipping in God that kept the evil spirits out while we lived there.

As asinine as this may sound, for the 6 months of so that we had resided in that apartment, I developed a sleeping disorder of sort. I couldn't sleep as well, had bad dreams, and woke up often in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe it's not, but this happend since we moved into that apartment, and I got over it as soon as we moved out.

Well, what do u guys think?

No spirits are evil. Common misconception. (But of course you don't have to believe that) EVP may work, but I've never tried it. Don't need to. But I can tell you that spirits are everywhere, not just in that apartment. There are probably hundreds in the house you currently live in. And ghosts aren't the spirit of dead people, only low level spirits that use the unchanged energy left behind from the dead person (or animal, plant, etc...).

How could you possibly know this, Vig? Did the spirits tell you so?

You know spirits don't talk spinks. It is in my experience that it is this way. I have never met an evil spirit, or a spirit of a dead person. They have always been neutral, and low level spirits.

oop... this is where my Scientific and Spiritual natures butt heads.

I haven't seen any evidence of EVP that makes me think it is anything other than perseption. Much like seeing the Virgin Mary in a piece of toast.

Now as for 'evil' spirits I have run into one very nasty one. I would love to have a 'scientific' explanation but it isn't there. I have to admit that my experience (and that of my friends) must for now go under the 'ookie-spookie' catigory.
