When I was a child, heaven was is the sky, hell was somewhere down in the earth.
For those who believe in this concept, I'm curious to hear your idea of a physical locality for heaven and hell. Faust.

No response?
I'm disappointed. I truly would like to hear your thoughts on this. Is there another possibility, other than physical? I am not being sarcastic or anything sophomoric like that. I am simply interested to hear some thoughts on this. Faust.

For me, heaven and hell don't exist. You can feel as if you are in hell, or feel as if you are in heaven - depending on your conscience. I do believe though in reincarnation, and a spirit world - for me that is where we are, but in a dimension or frequency that we are unaware of, as humans. ![]()

I was expecting a myriad of possibilities in reply to this question. I'm not looking to refute anyones beliefs. I'm glad that you have not taken that line. From what time I have been able to visit this sight I have formed the opinion that you and many others here are open to discuss a wide range of religious and secular topics. I can only hope for further interest in this thread as I believe it could lead to a very interesting exchange of ideas. Faust.

Yor last statement is all about the Forum - an exchange of ideas, in mutually respected company. (Unfortunately that is not always the case, but Ideals are not called ideals for nothing!) ![]()

Its likely that Heaven and Hell were thought to be literally below the earth or high in the sky in biblical times.. nobody was able to reach these places..
However, with space flight and astrology we can show that heaven is further away than we previously thought and with hell, well although we cant drill deep enough, im pretty sure that belief is being reconsidered. I expect most Christians will nowadays feel that these are places beyond the physical world.

For my particular Buddhist tradition, heaven and hell are right here on earth, in this life. We cycle through those and 8 other life-conditions every day. These conditions arise and subside in response to what happens in our daily life; and generally in response to the causes we make each day. Both life states are a function of karma, or effect, from the causes we make.

Heaven is all around us. Most cannot see it because of the "veils" as they are often called. When I commune with God, I see Heaven. I see Heaven in my children's laughter. I do not think I can explain it to one who has not seen. But I know it is very frustrating to look high and low for something just to find it right there in front of your eyes. Do not look to the sky for Heaven, but look within your own heart, for it is there that you will find the Kingdom of Heaven.

I am encouraged by the responses I'm receiving.
Since I have no belief in an afterlife, I personally think that it is a matter of perception. Life is what you make of it. I agree with the majority of the posts here in as much as my personal concept of heaven and hell deals with the here and now. Faust.
