Does God really exist? This is the question I often ask to myself and others. Often, people will answer that yes, they do believe in God and his existance. Personally, I don't think that God exists, but rather, people hope He exists. Since the beginning of time and the first human life on Earth,(evolutionarily speaking) our understanding of the surroundings as well as ourselves was and still is limited. Even as we evolved and our knowledge of the world and ourselves progressed, there are still concepts and ideas that constantly and consistantly challenges the human mind.
Human life thus far is very much new when compared to that of the rest of the universe and even to that of young Earth. With this in mind, it is only understandable that we are not able to fully comprehend all things around us, and we most likely will not. When we do not even understand many aspects of the human body and the mind, bigger concepts such as the cosmos and the creation of the universe are profundly mysterious. Then comes Religion and the concept of God, the answer to the mysteries and the unknown. For the many concepts that we are yet to even remotely comprehend, we often use God as the answer. It is easier to say that God had created the universe, the Earth, the human race, and all the other mysteries of life simply because we do not yet understand these things fully. Our desire to be reassured and comforted is the only real reason that Religion was born and the concept of God, invented. Our faith after death is another concept that exudes mystery. No one knows what happens to our "souls," "spirits," or that spark of life after our inevitable demise. Here is where Religion and God once again becomes convinient. How terrifiying is the possibility that after our death, we simply just cease to be, disappear into oblivion, and into nothingness. With this in mind, we created Religion and invented the concept of God; alluding ourselves with reassurance. Reassurance that after death, depending on your faith, we might go to Heaven, Hell, Nirvana, Bliss, or become reincarnated. The existance of God himself, whether He exists or not, has always been answered by allusive and often vague responses. The common answers are that God is bigger than us, so big in fact, that we cannot see him, hear him, and otherwise cannot figure him out. So big, that he is everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are things in life that I can take others words for; things that I don't need proved, but God and his existance is not one of them. How can we believe in something that we can never see until we die, in which case no one will really know if God was ever seen in the first place. At the same time, how can we acknowledge the existance of something that scientifically speaking, cannot exist. Yes, it is true that science doesn't explain everything, but eventually it will like it has done so for many previously mysterious things. We've tackled flight, figured out aeronautics, conquered the limitations of gravity, and have cured countless diseases and illnesses. Of all things, explaination of the creation of the Universe is not impossible, but rather improbable with the ammount of knowledge that we presently possess. When and with good possibility, if we do figure out the creation of the universe, will we then have disproved the existance of God? When and with good possibility, if we come into contact with life outside of Earth, will we then have disproved the existance of God as other lifeforms are contradictory to the idea that all life originated from Earth? Chances are that it will not. People will come up with new ways of interpreting the Bible and other religious scriptures to account for the new circumstances. New "proof" will come up to help explain the occurance and new findings. In the end, God and Religion will never be disapproved because we have come to rely upon it too excessively. God and Religion exists, only to be our answer to the unknown and our closure in times of need and reassurance. Thanks for reading! Hope to see your comments and opinions on the subjects as well.
