Geoman-- Yours is a common misconception. Actually, the 2nd law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe must always increase. The entropy of systems inside the universe, however, can decrease, and in fact systems in the universe show a decrease in entropy all the time. Just as an example, disorderly gaseous water molecules can condense to form droplets and very "complex" orderly snowflakes. The reason this does not violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics is because the heat from those molecules leaves the system and increases the overall entropy of the universe.

So if I believe that going from non-life to life required intelligence, and you think I am wrong, then you must believe that it happened naturally (by accident). have i not been ignorant so far? ![]() |

I have to agree that you are misusing the 2ond law.
Systems decay over time, most notably closed systems. Although thinking on it... the second law of themodynamics could also be used agianst god. After all according to entropy eventually god would have to decay and go *poof* God is after all a closed system. ![]() wa:do

Everyone is still failing to answer the question of how the first life got here.
Let's assume that life was created by accident. Then our scientists should be able to duplicate this, shouldn't they. Well, they cant. If our scientists can't produce this "natural and accidental" occurance, that has happened only once in our lifetime, than something smarter than us had to have done it. |

This topic, to me, is somewhat absurd. I don't want to offend anyone, but trying to compare God and the 2nd law of Thermodynamics is a bit like comparing the most luxurious cruise ship to a rowing boat.
We humans seem to pride ourselves on being so knowledgable; and yet I believe that our consciousness is limited by our own inability to see further than our hands. ![]()
