Bear in mind though, the characteristic that was used to disqualify Pluto (having a clear orbit) was used only in Pluto's case. If they applied that rule to all the planets, there would be NO planets in the system cause none of them have a clear orbit.

I think it has to do with mostly clearing its orbit, there's nothing bigger than the Earth in our orbit, and not a lot smaller that could really do much damage.

As much as it pains me to have loose Pluto as a planet, I have to agree with the ruling.

There are a large number of 'Plutoids' in our system and having them all be planets would make it just silly to have to memorize them all.

Unfortunately you can't make Pluto a special case... but you can name all the things like it in a group under its name.
